Winter Sports Federation of Portugal (FDI Portugal)
The Winter Sports Federation of Portugal (FDI-Portugal) is the Portuguese authority for snow-related sports, affiliated to the International Ski Federation (FIS). We are a non-profit organization endowed with sport utility status, founded on May 15, 1992 and based in the city of Covilhã, in the Estrela moutains of Portugal.
MISSION
Promote and disseminate the development and growth of Winter Sports in Portugal.
VALUES
The FDI-Portugal based is role in the principles of friendship, respect, excellence, determination, courage, equality and inspiration, in line with the Olympic Values.
GOALS
- Promotion, regulation and direction of winter sports practice in the national territory;
- Representation towards the Public Administration and similar international organizations in the interests of its members;
- Organization and promotion of the national teams, guaranteeing its presence in several international competitions and the necessary technical and sporting support to athletes, teams, coaches, players, directors and judges;
- Organization of national sports competitions in applicable regulatory terms;
- Organization of national or international events and competitions, for the Winter Sports promotion and development;
- Capture and loyalty of new players;
- Combating social exclusion and xenophobia.
NATIONAL COMPETITIONS
It is up to FDI-Portugal, plan and carry out all official competitions, in order to assign titles of national champions in the various winter sports that supervises.
INTERNATIONAL REPRESENTATIONS
The FDI-Portugal is responsible for athletes and team selections to represent Portugal at official international competitions in winter sports.
SPORTS AGENTS TRAINING
FDI-Portugal's mission is the training of specialized human resources in the various areas involved, includes teachers, coaches, judges and officials.
